Chinese Water-sleeves, Piet Mondrian, and particle motion?!?

The movement is from "traditional" section of my watersleeve solo "To Taste Clearly" choreographed by Xiao Yu and I.

I used motion capture at the EMMA lab in ACCAD (OSU), then translated it with Motionbuilder and Maya.

The visuals were inspired by the sensory input of wearing the sleeves and conjuring in space/time with them, Mondrian's squares, and considering simplicity, clarity, and movement.
